.Ruland rigid couplings are an excellent choice for general purpose industrial applications or precision servo driven systems. They are torsionally stiff with virtually zero windup under torque loads. Rigid couplings require perfect alignment for proper use. If any misalignment is present the forces will cause the shafts, bearings, or coupling to fail prematurely.
Ruland manufactures rigid couplings with precision honed bores on straight bore rigid couplings for superior fit and torque transmission and alignment. They do not introduce misalignment into the system making them suitable for high precision servo applications commonly found in industries such as packaging, printing, semiconductor, solar, and medical. Ruland uses proprietary NY patch coating on hardware to provide even seating of the screw, repeated screw installations, and prevent galling. It also resists vibration and maintains holding power. Two-piece styles feature opposing screws for balancing to reduce vibration and have higher speed capabilities.
This rigid coupling is made from 1215 lead-free steel and has an ANSI B17.1 standard keyway. Ruland uses a proprietary black oxide process on steel rigid couplings to produce a fine glossy finish while increasing holding power and providing some corrosion resistance. It also ensures smooth installation of the screw and prevents stick-slip. Rigid couplings are stamped with the Ruland name and bore size for ease of identification.
Ruland rigid couplings are carefully made from select bar stock sourced exclusively from North American mills and are machined to a fine burr-free finish. Hardware exceeds ANSI standards for maximum torqueing capabilities and holding power.
