.Shaft collars are commonly used as guides, spacers, mechanical stops, and for component alignment on a shaft. They are one of the most common power transmission components and are found on equipment in most industries.
Ruland bearing locknuts are designed to fit AFBMA standard shafting. Threads are double tapped to ensure they are precise and burr-free allowing for simple installation and proper fit extending shaft life. Bearing locknuts are machined with a more precise face, TIR <0.0005” (sizes -00 to -006) and TIR <0.0010” (sizes -07 to -14). They have a clamp style design which does not mar the shaft, is easy to install and adjust, and has high holding power. They distribute compressive forces evenly around the shaft for a tight fit and improved holding power.
This bearing locknut is made from 1215 lead-free steel. Ruland uses a proprietary black oxide process on steel shaft collars to produce a fine glossy finish while increasing holding power and providing some corrosion resistance. It also ensures smooth installation of the screw and prevents stick-slip. Bearing locknuts are stamped with the Ruland name and AFBMA standard size for ease of identification.
Ruland bearing locknuts are carefully made from select bar stock sourced exclusively from North American mills and are machined to a fine burr-free finish. Hardware exceeds ANSI standards for maximum torqueing capabilities and holding power.
